But I see the trend forming it is all about *Big Monsters* kits.
The point of the game is to have fun every time not win every time.

I like everything except the griffons.
Demi griffons look too lean, and too small for the base.
The armor on all the griffons seems to float over the feathers and would look better if articulated.

Other than that, it's a pretty good release.

I think the mage contraptions look pretty dumb. Some of the faces of the crew are just bad (the potato-headed light mage being the worst offender). The Gryphons & Demigryhps are OK.

My main concern is the rulebook. It was written by Cruddance, so I'm fearing another Tomb King level flop.

How does the griffon fly with that chestplate that wraps around the front edges of the wings?  Other than that plate, I like the griffon.

Nothing flies, Wade, they just hop and glide.

I like the contraptions, I don't like the wagon body itself, though.

I still like my war altar better. I will be getting the new toys though except for the war altar.

So much of this stuff is SSSOOOOOO over the top it's comical ...good luck swinging a Halberd/Polearm from horseback(griffonback) while carrying a shield on the other arm.

Making things bigger doesn't make them better.

So looks like in 8th everyone get an Engine of the Gods. Cant wait to see what they do with the 8th Ed. LM Engine of the Gods. It will be 4 Slann on a monolithic alter mounted on the backs of 2 Elephants, on top of a Giant Sea Turtle drifting though space a la Terry Pratchett.

Ok, can't GW get their own ideas, or must they always have someone come up with it first. Like Wade said, I too am not a big fan of the Griffon chest plate, looks dumb. Now we know they got it, and the griffon helmet, from a toy company calld Papo...

That's ok though, the design is safe for 5 years and up!

GW web page says Demi-Griffons come on 50mm by 75mm bases.  So they are on those stubby giant bases.  Should help out a bit in an army that has crowded deployment zones.
T4 W3 with 3S5 and 1 S4 (with lance) makes that medium hitters, but the 1+ armor save makes them pretty durable.
Looks like my dark elves need to brush up on that lore of metal.

So who's played some games using the new rules? I'm curious to read how they went.

Ive played 3 and tbh they seem like a solid list. the units ive found that stand out so far are reiksguard, helblasters, and the tank. the army has a lot of elements that are stubborn and i think thats gonna be the way going forward. I did notice trying to "trim" the list usually makes it go in a completely different direction, meaning you really cant have everything, there are a lot of hard decisions in list making and that is challenging but also refreshing meaning i actually have to think about what each part of the list does. Im excited to keep playtesting because so far they seem really fun.
