Hey guys,

I am planning on getting back into the game here shortly.  I have signed up for the Shifting Sands tournament in February of next year.  I plan on playing a Compagnia Carri (Italian tank company) for the 2,000 points early/mid war doubles matches.  I need a partner, however, so I was hoping someone would like to join me and we can split the expenses and drive to Phoenix together - my car.  I already have my tanks prepped and primed for painting.  If anyone is interested, respond here or to my email: b_j_kjordano@cox.net.  Tournament informtion is provided in the link below.

Hi brian

Sounds tempting and possible for me.

Are you saying that you are building the force for both players.

Thanks

Marko

Hey there!  No, I am only building the ~1,000 point Carri company, which is really all I have time for.  The other ~1,000 can be a German or Italian unit.  This will be my first early war army.

Hmm ok let's talk sometime about what combination of lists makes sense.

The only thing I have that I can legally field between the 2 books in infantry and armored infantry.

Otherwise it means build 2 forces more or less from scratch ....

Ok,

I have a few options, but my core EW force will be:

1 HQ M11/40

5 M11/40
4 M11/40

1 Bersaglieri Plt (7 stands)

and either:

1) 2 Squads Motociclisti (5 stands) and 4 L3/35 Tankettes

or

2) 2 Squads Motociclisti (5 stands) and 2 75/27 artillery

or

3) 4 75/27 artillery with observer rifle team

I would go for 1 or 3.

maybe drop the infantry for something fast moving that can keep up with your tanks.

Question is what list would complement what you are doing ???

I would have to build it from scratch so we may as well have a combined force that makes sense

What sucks is that I can't field the pioneers in the North Africa book.  That would be my infantry of choice, as some allied tanks the Italians are NO match for.  That would put me more on the defensive, even with a tank force.  I am just going to start painting my tanks first, but I may end up fielding the Bersaglieri instead if I don't like the allied tank matchups.  If we both field infantry, we would almost always defend.  I don't really like being in the defensive, but I could afford a decent enough mobile force to create a real headache for the attacker in counter-attack situations.  Once I get enough stuff painted to play, I am not sure how many local players have EW allied forces to play against either.  Are you aware of any?

Myself, Dave Hernandez, Bill Wilcox and Kurt are the people I am aware off.

We can and maybe should playtest with proxies ..

I still have no clue what I would build for this
