Broadside Bash 2012

The Broadside Bash is a 2-day GW-style Grand Tournament, featuring the Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40k.

The Guiding Principals of the Broadside Bash
* To have a fun and unusual gaming event, using awesome themed terrain tables.
* To host a gaming event where the hobby side (painting, composition, sportsmanship) is at least as important as the actual gameplay.
* To host a gaming event where you can have 1, or even 2, losses and still be in the running for the top spots.
* To showcase amazing painted armies on the table.
* To providing a great weekend of gaming for old and new friends.
* To foster goodwill and cooperation among the gaming community, between both hobbiests and tournament players.
* To have a straight forward transparent scoring and matchup system.
* To increase the awareness of the tournament circuit

You should edit your post here and to Dakka to update the Warhammer Fantasy points totals.

The fantasy scorign section:
Points Categories (maximum possible shown):
Game: 90
Sportsmanship: 24+5
Appearance: 37 (37 total points available for Appearance Award category, but capped at 29 for overall)
Composition: 24+5
Early Confirmation: 2 towards overall score

There's only a maximum of 90 for Game?  Wouldn't it be 100, including bonus points?

First born's birthday is the 12th, 2nd one is due on the 28th.  I wonder if the wife will let me sneak away in between?

Would love to break some necks with the new ogres.

Hey Kurt,
40K is allowing Forgeworld units.  Will Forgeworld unts be allowed for Fantasy?  If so, will the unit rules from the website be enough, or will they only be allowed if included in the Tamurkhan book that is supposedly coming out.

We are considering all FW on a case by case basis.  However assuming that the new book will be available shortly, I do not see any reason why we would not allow it as well as the other FW units.

Are there any in particular that you are looking to use?

Tamurkhan is *supposed* to be out this month...

So far I know of only two issues with the Chaos Dwarves:

The Bale Taurus introduced in Storm of Magic has the "Blazing Body" rule meaning non-magical attacks against it suffer -1 to wound.  And Forgeworld also included the rule in their book.  If a unit needs a '6' to wound a model with the Blazing Body rule and is wielding a non-magical weapon, they now need a '7'.  Since there is no rule specifying 6's always wound, does that mean, as it was in 7th edition, they simply can't be wounded by low strength attacks?  RAW says that is correct while others think it's another oversite by GW and 6's should wound.

The signature spell for the Lore of Hashut gives a unit/units Hatred.  If it is cast on a unit in their second round of combat, does it confer Hatred (much like Empire Fantaics)?  RAW says no but that makes it a contender for "the worst default spell in Warhammer" award if it doesn't.

You judge-y folks have to decide how to handle those two situations plus if it will be allowed to supplement Warriors of Chaos armies.

For the record, what I've seen of the leaked copy looks really weak but hopefully that means it will be generally accepted by gaming communities.

I would suppose that yes, since this is a special rule modifying the default rules, then low str would be unable to wound the model.

I would also be inclined to give the effect of hatred at each casting of the spell, in the same manner as Fanataics get.

I would not be inclined to allow it to use it along with or mixed with WoC.

Pretty sure the the main rule book shows in the to wound chart that 6 will always wound.
Similar to how you can have a 0+ AS but will always fail on a roll of a 1.

They may just make the Blazing Body rule the equivalent to the Slaans ethereal and can only be hit by magic weapons.
The point of the game is to have fun every time not win every time.
Don't take life so seriously, no one gets out of it alive anyway.

Guys,
I noticed that registration is up and running on the Broadside Bash blog page.

http://broadside-bash.blogspot.com

All the recent tournament talk has got me pumped up and ready for next year's BSB... I'm registered and now I just have to get my army list ready to go!

Remember this event sold out in early January last time, so don't wait around to register if you plan on going.

Just saw an email that the tourney is almost full!

If you haven't signed up yet, you might want to do so quickly... Also, I think that today is the last day to get a room at the hotel for the Strategicon discounted rate. (Assuming that they're not full already.)

I am heading up there with a buddy. We are planning on driving up Saturday morning and then leaving Sunday evening.

Kelly I had a chance to talk to you about possibly crashing in your room for that Saturday night. Let me know what you think. If you need to get a hold of me I can be reached at (858) 692-9713. The sooner I know the better simply because I need to make arrangements if that doesn't work out.

Or if anyone else is looking to lower the costs on their room and wouldn't mind accommodating 2 more bodies on Saturday night, shoot me a text, call me or respond on here.

Thanks!
Cooper Waddell
Please do not hesitate to get a hold of me (email, PM on the forums, etc.) in order to play a game. I'm up for any Warhammer 40k game.
