Storm of Magic - Warhammer

Is anyone picking it up?
Ia anyone planning to play it?
Is it a quick burn fad that people will play a few times and give up on it (ala Lustria)?
Will it get incorporated into local campaigns?
Will it get used in any way in the local league or tournaments?
I'm waiting on buying the book since I don't want a $50 paperweight that will never get used. I can find other things to spend $50 on that I can use.

Good games and good times. Our goal is to expand the hobby community: mega-battles; painting and conversion events, or simply helping out a fellow gamer.

Pat, Drew, and Carlos are coming over to the house on Friday for a couple of games of storm of magic. We will probably play one of the scenario's out of the book. If it is fun and different that is all that matters. If it can be included in a campaign than thats even better.
Phil, you want a game on Sunday versus my dark elves? 2000pts plus our bonus 500pts?

Looking forward to a report. I really like the ideas of being able to take the bonus monsters in any list. I'd like to see if just the monsters are OK without using the OTT magic rules.

Players will roll D6-1 to generate spells, and 2D3 for the magic phase. Dice pool will be capped at 6.
Players will get an extra 25% of points that must be spent on a new list of townsfolk and unarmed peasants.
I think the best part of the Storm of Magic might be the monsters. Monsters needed more love. I'd like to give them a try in normal games.

Hey, I liked Lustria. It's more or less what I anticipate Storm of Magic to be - An alternate gamestyle just to have fun and Blow Sh!t Up 4th/5th edition style. And really, aren't you the guys that are the most supportive of alternate styles and games being played to just have fun?

Someone had a theory that looking at GW's favorite objects and two of the last specialty books being Storm of Chaos and Storm of Magic, that the next two specialty books would be Storm of Blood and Storm of Skulls.
I for one welcome Storm of Skulls.

Like Bama said, we're going to play a few games of it this weekend to see how it goes...
Will it be played all that often? -I think it will in the occasional 1-off games and possibly in mega battles. I could see where it could be fun.
The main reason that I didn't pick up the book, is because I felt like it would just sit on the shelf or in storage with my other 40k and Fantasy expansion books that don't get used...
It may just be me, but every time I walk into a game store these days all I can think about are all the games that I own that never seem to get played and the giant stack of 40k and Fantasy boxes of miniatures that need to be painted.

I'm not putting Lustria down, I liked it too, and am all for playing whatever is fun. I'm just asking if people feel it will get played a few times and then disappear...which is really what happened to the Lustria rules. Lustria was a cheep book to try out. This one is not.

I look forward to hearing about it. I agree about the megabattles, it could be cool for that.
And I feel the same about all the games I have that don't get played...(Dark Age, Confrontation, BFG, Epic, etc)

I have a question for Bob, Cliff and the GE guys: Will the store be running any events in the next month or so to go with the Storm of Magic campaign that GW just started?
