Well, I really want to run a force from the new book, but I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet.  I'm looking at running a US force, possibly Nisei, but there is a Fallschirmjager list that looks great too.

Let me get down to the store and buy the book, and I'll post again after I have a force.  I have one built from Dogs & Devils, but I think the new book will be better for this campaign.

Thanks for your patience.

Dave.

I'm in, but not sure what force I'm bringing yet.

Name: Jon Ciesielski
Army: Either Special Service Force or 3rd Infantry (From Dogs and Devils)
Ace: Devin "Lefty" Wright

*edit: Choice made. FSSF was going to be awkward with the rules. ie. I could bring my SSF Cannon platoon in week 1, but it would be prohibited in week 2 since they're listed as Tank teams. I have a feeling using a man-packed 105mm artillery battery wouldn't go over well either.

That's just it, the cannon plt is a weapon platoon so available and no tank-team/transport restriction til turn 2.
Either way, my 3rd Infantry is ready to rack up some Medals of Honor. I've got a rifle company waiting for those plastic bases to come out so will end up with "proxy" para/FSSF infantry on the table instead of generic GIs.
I can't believe I'm painting ANOTHER infantry company. I guess its fitting that its the 3rd Infantry Division, but you'd think I'd have learned after the first two...

I'm making a small change for my force since we haven't started yet.  I ended up picking up Dogs and Devils while over at Game Empire and saw they rated 16th SS as Fearless Trained.  So keeping with history, I'm going to use the 11th SS Nordland pdf instead of the Das Reich list.

Speaking of changes...

Just realized Devils & Dogs grenadiers require 3 combat platoons - makes it difficult to field a competitive 500 pt list.

I'm going to piece together a Reichsgrenadier list.
Can I take fortifications (I think the 44th can take them - don't own Cassino)?

You can but not in the first turn since fortifications are support.

I posted the force org question on the BF Forum. the answer was, yes, all mandatory force org slots must be taken at all point levels.

I don't have Cassino, but several posts on FoW forums says fortifications are legal at 500 pt level.

Is the restriction of not allowing fortifications @ 500 pt level a Cassino rule or a rule specific to our campaign?

Hate to bug, but it influences list design.

Thx again

Tom and Marko,
if it is a combat or weapons platoon option, you can. I did not see any in those slots, so probably not till the 900 point level will you see any. (except for the mission special rules)

It is a 'support platoon', I checked that since I had the same idea for my Nisei.

I think that is a good thing imagine the mess that 4 HMG nests could make out of an 500 point infantry company all while being next to invulnerable to what is coming at them

At the back of the Cassino book the talk about fortifications. I think they said you CAN purchase them at any point level during the campaign, though I don't see how you can afford anything at the 500 point level. Minefields are 50 points each...

Thanks for the update. I noticed on the thread they said the answer could be found in the Cassino book. Since GE is sold out I can't get a copy to read so needed to ask. Thanks for the followup.
