Those spiders look great, the greens and reds turned out great.  It sounds like like the effect was fairly easy to achieve too.
When in doubt, empty your clip.

Very easy effect and thank you :)   Mechrite Red base coat.  Liche Purple wash.  Highlight with Blood Red.  Highlight with a Blood Red/Blazing Orange mix, though you could probably use one of the red/orange tones from the P3 line just as easily.  I mixed my red highlight before the P3 release.

The Skin color is Terry's mix, Snot Green, highlight with Goblin Green, highlighted with Scorpion Green.  Just layered on.

For my own Goblins I had a similar system, but my colors were more green/blue mixes than green/yellow.  Made for darker skin, but the cloaks and shields were pretty bright.

I like bright colors, especially after painting 54 Night Goblins.  When devising a color scheme for an army I really think one has to have a color to catch the eye.  My Skaven have drab gray fur, and Thrall Flesh skin with a muted purple wash.  The wood is an unremarkable brown, the weapons are dingy metal or black with green streaks.  But the robes are a lovely Hawk Turquoise, a sharp electric color that catches the eye even from a few tables away.

I'd wanted to do a turquoise army for a long time, and started to do it with my Dogs of War, but it never came together.  Couldn't bring myself to repaint units I had already painted to my satisfaction.  And when I painted a Chaos army with turquoise for someone it was not well received.

Coming up with color schemes gets tough for me, I don't really want to repeat myself, but...  I've done a lot of different armies for people...

I did a little work on the Daemon Prince.
I did some highlighting for the 5 Spider Riders.
I cleaned up the bases of Terry's Night Goblins.

I'm a little tired tonight and gonna call it an early night, maybe wake up early and get some work done tomorrow.  Or build that Vampire the Eternal Struggle deck I've been trying to get myself to build.

Bob,
The spiders look fantastic.  Please do not be afraid to do anything with color that you think would be good.  The only thing that I would like to have the same is the skin tone.  Other than that, if they will "fit" with the army I am not against having a unit with different colors.  I trust your artistic ability and taste, so have at it my friend, and thank you for helping me.

Finished five Spider Riders for Terry.  I'll probably do a war machine next, then hit one of the big units.

Began 20 White Lions for Bama, though really it's two batches of 10.  I painted the skin, gold, and wood/leather portions of ten, then brown inked them, then began painting the skin, gold, and wood/leather on the other ten.  By then the ink had dried and I was able to paint the Dheneb Stone that's the under coat of the white skirts and sleeves.  There's really not much difference between the two batches at any one time, but for some reason it makes it easier for me to do 20 at a time.

Oh?  Am I being paid to paint IGuard now? :)

Today I woke up early to watch the Charger game, then watched the Giants/Cowboy game, rooting for the Giants so that the Packers could get homefield advantage and take Eli Manning out to the tundra and destroy him.
Then I had my RPG game.

So didn't have much time to paint, but I did finish 10 of Bama's White Lions, will work on the next ten tomorrow.

Worked, played some DAoC, did some 3D work, so I didn't get much painting done.

Primed and began Cliff's 4 bolt throwers and crew.
Finished laying down the basic colors for Bama's 10 White Lions, will finish them tomorrow.

Got some good work in today, ten White Lions finished for Bama, and three High Elf characters almost finished.  They should be done tomorrow and ready in time for my game against Rob on Thursday.
I also started on Terry's catapult, but had to put the war machine on a base first.  Cut some plasticard to fit and it's ready to go now.

I also ripped the wings I'd put on my Vargulf off.  They were too big and chunky.  I'll wander around the store tomorrow looking for wings that might work, maybe something from Cryx or Everblight.  Barring that I'll page through the Rackham and Reaper catalogs.

And I'm also not sure about my Necromancers anymore.  If Necros can only be level 1, and Vampire Thralls are already level 1 casters, I don't really see why I'd pay for a Necromancer.  I'd only save 45 points, and I'd get a battlefield liability instead.  Wednesday I'll probably dig through my miniatures and gather up my undead cattle and old zombies, see what pieces I'll want for the new book.

Oh, and it looks like GW bitz orders will be up and running again in April or May, a preview of which I have gotten.  Apparently GW commissioned Staples to create bitz binders with color pages for bitz program stores to have.  Staples was supposed to hold the binders until they were complete, instead they messed up and sent them out half finished.  So GE got our binder with half the pages, but the models I see in there are some pretty cool ones, the Warrior Priest blessing the handgun, my old Samurai Dwarf, Dwarf on stilts.  Some old school and some new.  I'm crossing my fingers that when we get the undead section some old school zombies will be included.

Oh, and GW is discontinuing their ink line to be replaced in 3-4 months with a new wash brand, I'm speculating that the washes will be thinner and have a medium additive, which will make for a nice smooth wash.  Rumor is that a GW staff member painted a model for the staff Golden Demons at German Gamesday using only the new washes and foundation paints and took a Demon, I'll have to see if I can track down German Gamesday pics.

But it looks like I might have to stock up on Brown Ink.  I've tried Windsor Newton ink, but it's thinner than GW ink and it actually bleeds through light colored paints that I've layered on top of it.  Not a problem when I used Nut Brown on the golds for Ed's Menites, but when I started layering the whites it was a pain.

I'm considering trying a bottle of FW Brown ink, I really like their black and dark red ink.  We'll see.

"FW Brown ink" <-- What's that?

You are going to order enough inks so that people can stock up, right? I've been burned by GW paint changes often enough to know what to do.

FW Ink is an acrylic artist's ink.  It tends to be a bit thicker than calligraphy inks.

http://www.dickblick.com/zz211/07/

They have a large selection and I've been pretty happy with them in the past.  Microwave them a bit to help cook out the water and you have a really lovely black.

I've already spoken with our GW sales rep about how much they have in stock and I'll suggest to Cliff to buy up the ink a bit.  Any particular colors?

The list of paint colors being phased out:
Bad Moon Yellow
Fiery Orange
Bronzed Flesh
Tentacle Pink
Scaly Green
Brazen Brass
Midnight Blue
Tanned Flesh
Terracotta
Gloss Varnish
Empty Paint Pots

I better picked up a couple extra ink pots to be sure that by the time I finish my guard army it will still be somewhat uniform in appearance. That's what I get for using a mixed shade of ink for the primary wash!

I finished Bama's three High Elf Heroes.
Finished three of Terry's Catapult Goblins and worked on the Bully and catapult.
I hope to finish Cliff's four bolt throwers (not crew), and Terry's catapult tonight.

And my camera has decided not to transfer pictures to my computer.  I'll have to fix that tonight, too.

I finished up the last of Terry's catapult, it'll be in the case tomorrow.
Finished Cliff's 4 bolt throwers, will complete the basing tomorrow at work, and I've begun work on the 12 Goblin crewmen, which will hopefully see some paint tomorrow at work.
I put some paint on Bama's High Elf standards (just the standards), I'm missing Bubonic Brown, though, so I'll need to touch up the banner poles tomorrow.
And I dug through my bin of loose figures and found the perfect Nightmare wings from the old poopy Winged Nightmare that had a special character on it.  They'll be the right size and though it'll be a little less bat-like than I wanted it'll be better in the long run, I think.

So, I'm supposed to put new hands on the Daemon Prince.  The two fingers that the LotR Vampire has weren't impressive enough.  I was told to get replacement hands like the ones Matt had on his Be'Lakor, and Matt very helpfully informed me that they were the hands from Tyranid Warriors.  So I picked up the cit and did the butcher's work today.  Tomorrow I'll use green stuff to smooth the joint.  The hands look a bit big to me, but...spikier.  It'll be fine.

The problem with painting for other people is you have to do things you don't agree with :)

And still having problems with loading pictures to my computer from the camera.  Ever since I got the upgrade to the program thingie it crashes the program when it tries to upload the pictures.  So tonight I'll uninstall the program and just reinstall from scratch and not let the stupid thing upgrade in the future.

Tomorrow, though.  Now I will get my six hours of sleep.

I finished up the basing of Terry's Catapult and put it in the case today.  Finished basing Cliff's 4 Bolt Throwers and put them in the case today.
Did some of the base work on Cliff's 12 crewmen, and inked them, got some highlights on the crewmen, but will have to finish tomorrow.
Since I'm a little tired of working on Greenskins (5 war machines so far), I've broken out Matt's Ogres, and will probably have this batch done before his game at the end of the month.

I also did some more figure digging.  I have way too many figures and bits.  Waaaaaay too much.  I finally found what I was looking for, my undead oxen, it was of course the last box I checked in, and when I did find it, the stupid thing had lost its head, which meant I had to search the trunk again for a little bull head, which I finally found.  Waaaaay too many models and bits.  I need to think about moving them.  I have a ton of the old skeletal horses, which I made sure to scoop up whenever I found them in the used bin.  I figured they'd be changing the undead horse soon, and just in case I'd need the old models, that was like 7 years ago.  Now I just have way too many plastic skeletal horses.

I also did some thinking about my undead Kislevites.  The characters should be mounted, a Necromancer for the list should be an old hag (from WHFRP), but I probably won't run many/any.  And I should have a Boyar, I'm wondering if the mounted Boris model would work.  I'll need to ask Bama to maybe bring in the model for me to check out.  I will definitely need Ice Witches. and I'm not quite sure what to do about mounted women.

Maybe I'll just put them on foot.

Finished 12 Goblin artillerymen for Cliff today, bringing his total Bolt Throwers up to 6 (4 painted in the last week).
My next job for Cliff is basing his Dwarf army for the Broadside Bash...it's so small.  And painting Dwarven Bolt Throwers.  The Bolt Thrower goodness just never ends...I think Terry has some Bolt Throwers for his Goblins, too.

I also finished five Ogres for Matt, should have the next four and the Gorger done in a couple days.  I don't think I got any specific color requests for the Gorger, so I'll probably stick pretty close to the one in the book, except not so white.  Might give me a chance to practice my blood smear technique before the painting clinic next Friday.

I dipped a bunch of Zombies and some old Wraiths, and a skeletal bull in Pinesol today, on Monday I'll attack them with a toothbrush.

GW Scorched Brown and P3 Umbral Umber look very similar, both a dark rich brown.  I picked up the P3 color when the store and I ran out of Scorched Brown at the same time.  Scorched Brown was the color I was using to wash Matt's Ogre's skin, so running out was a pain.  When making a wash with it it would always break down a little red, which was one of the reasons it acted as a shader for Dwarf Flesh.  I was very surprised when I made Umbral Umber into a wash that it didn't split into some red, it actually grayed out a bit.  I ended up adding some Vermin Brown to get the color right.  Just interesting the way the pigments play.

I've found that with some of the Vallejo browns, except its not water they react to... its magnets. Sometimes when I have a rare earth magnet embedded in a model or I'm painting the edges of a GF9 base, depending on how wet my paint is some of the pigment will be drawn to the magnet with can not only alter the shade of the paint but pool up around the magnet and form a ridge. Its only a problem if you're using heavy coats of very wet paint, but its something to be aware of! I don't know if GW has any ferrous pigments in their paints.

Bob,
The Gobbos are amazing, thanks.  The only thing that we need to do to the others is a few checkers here and there on the cloaks, dont know if you remember that part of the conversation.  I will take care of the ones that I have now.  They look fantastic.

Yep I have 2 spear chuckas.....The main difference of course is I have a BS of 2, so mine do not seem to hit that often, think I need to enslave a few stunties to do my shootin for me.  That way my lads can do the real hed bashin.

Very happy with the spiders.   :)

Thanks,
Terry
